Description
We love bees so are happy to support Bumblebee Conservation Trust in the amazing work they do to help our bees! In association with them, we have created recycled seed packet charity wedding favours – for each packet of seeds sold, 10p is donated to Bumblebee Conservation Trust, via Work for Good. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust is a science-led organisation, and leads the UK’s only standardised abundance-based survey of a major pollinator group – BeeWalk – with many sites monitored on a monthly basis through the flight season. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust was established out of concern for the serious plight of British bees. They have a vision for a different future in which our communities and countryside are rich in bumblebees and flowers, supporting a wide diversity of wildlife and habitats for everyone to enjoy. The charity is a registered charity, No 1115634, Scottish Charity No SC042830.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust is a science-led, UK based charity established in 2006 because of serious concerns about the plight of the bumblebee. Founded by Professor Dave Goulson, it is the only UK charity dedicated to conserving bumblebees. The Trust works across the UK inspiring everyone to help our precious wild bumblebees survive and thrive. Their activities promote conservation of rare species as well as initiatives aimed at inspiring different groups to help bumblebees in their local area.
Bumblebee Conservation Trust is committed to supporting the UK’s biodiversity and natural habitat, so that bumblebees and other wild pollinators can thrive. Your support doesn’t merely address today’s challenges, it sows the seeds of transformation that create stepping stones of progress to shape a better future for nature and future generations.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust raises awareness of bumblebees via their website and social media, they have regional projects throughout the UK (BeeWalks, landscape surveys, advice, restoring habitat), and conduct research on habitats
Bumblebee Conservation Trust Charity Seed Packets
These charity wedding favours are made from quality recycled manilla paper and contain only UK-grown seeds of UK wildflower species that bees love – Selfheal, White Campion, Ox-eye Daisy and Lesser Knapweed. The front of the packet is personalised with your wedding details (please advise in the box above) and the back of the packet has the sowing instructions and seed content details, plus charity information. The seeds are inside the packet in a glassine paper sachet.
Not going to be using the seeds for a while? No problem! The seeds are viable for a few years so if you are not using them straightaway simply store them somewhere cool and dry out of sunlight.
What is glassine paper? Glassine paper is an eco-friendly and plastic-free alternative to mass-produced heat-sealed plastic and foil/paper sachets. Unlike those sachets glassine paper can be recycled and is biodegradable. It is also resistant to moisture and will keep the seeds dry in the main packet.
About the Seeds
This is a mix of wildflower seeds that bees are particularly fond of! The seeds are UK species and have been grown in the UK by a reputable seed grower, who is inspected annually by DEFRA and whose seeds are fully traceable. You will get about a gram or so of seeds, enough to create a 1 metre square wildflower patch.
The seeds will grow into Selfheal, Ox-eye Daisy, Lesser Knapweed and White Campion. If not being sown imminently, just store them somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
