Description

RHS Plants for PollinatorsChildren love to give their teachers presents, so how about a nice eco-friendly seed packet teacher gift for your child’s teacher to remember them by!

This is a recycled manilla seed packet measuring 9 x 12 cm and personalised with your teacher’s name and your child’s – please advise them in the box above.  We can change the text if you prefer, just let us know in the box above, otherwise the text printed will be a personalised version of that in the photo.

The seeds inside will be in a paper sachet (not foil and plastic) and will be wild Field Forget-me-not (myosotis arvensis).  Field Forget-me-not seeds have been known to lay dormant in the soil for 30 years until suitable conditions arise for them to germinate.  They are pollinated by flies, wasps, bees and ants. If you are not going to use your seed packets for a few months or so, store them somewhere cool and dry out of direct sunlight.  The seeds are viable for a few years.

“Fantastic product, excellent quality, prompt service” (Lovely customer review!)

two flowers

April – July and, if you are lucky, you might get another flush of flowers in late summer.

Up to around 30 cm

Hardy annual/perennial

Best in semi-shade but will also be fine in full sun.

Masses of fabulous sky-blue flowers with yellow centres.  Slightly fluffy leaves.

Forget-me-not seeds are ideally sown September to November – but it won’t hurt them if you sow outside of that timescale!  They can be grown directly into the soil or in trays/pots of compost.  If sowing outside, make sure they are sown onto bare soil in a sunny or semi-shady spot – try and sprinkle them far apart.  Being as they self-seed well and have been known to come up in the cracks in paving, you could even sprinkle a few there!  Press the seeds gently into the soil/compost and water – no need to cover with more soil/compost.  if you have sown into trays or pots, you will need to separate the seedling once they are a decent size and grow on in individual pots before planting out when ready.
