Flori’s Friends are a 100% non-profit charity, dedicated to helping and rehoming abused and unwanted animals in Britain and across Europe.  They specialise in dog trauma and neglect cases, with 70% of their dogs having been subjected to excruciating pain and injury/torture.  50% of them come from killing stations in Europe.  Dogs that end up in these places are either severely abused and mishandled or cruelly and inhumanely destroyed.

Although Flori’s Friends rescues all sorts of able-bodied animals, they specialise in rehabilitating and rehoming disabled dogs, assessing their needs, operating on them and providing them with wheelchairs so they can start to enjoy life.  This often means taking the dogs other charities won’t touch and working with them – no matter how long it takes.  The charity has a strict “no-kill” policy. We are so pleased, here at Wildflower Favours, to be helping this charity.  We visited some of the little darlings as this charity is not far from us and we were totally smitten by the few adorable special dogs we met!  Flori’s Friends do an amazing job but their specialist work is expensive and they need all the help they can get to carry on their fantastic work for these poor abused animals.

They also provide emergency accommodation and treatment for dogs at local homeless shelters until their owners can get back on their feet. Their street team also provide blankets and dog coats throughout the winter months for the homeless and their dogs.

Natalia, founder, runs small after-school dog training sessions for secondary school pupils in the Kent area that are on behavioural report. These sessions help provide these kids with a sense of responsibility and a hands-on approach to learning. Many sessions result in a huge improvement in behaviour at school.

Their team give educational talks at schools, colleges and universities across the UK. No matter the level of education, Flori’s provides students with knowledge on topics from general pet husbandry to street dog behaviour as well as spreading the word on supporting animal rescues.

Flori’s Friends Charity Seed Packet Wedding Favour

For every Flori’s Friends seed packet wedding favour sold, we donate 20p to them.  Our seed packets are made from quality recycled manilla paper and measure 9 x 12 cm.  The wildflower seeds inside are in a paper sachet, not a foil and plastic one, the seeds having been grown in the UK and of native species only.  They are personalised with your wedding details – please advise these in the box above – and the sowing instructions and charity information are on the back.

If you are looking for charity wedding favours, please do consider Flori’s Friends – they do fantastic work giving abused dogs another chance at a joyful, happy life.

UK registered charity number – 1177365.

Wildflower Seed Content

RHS Plants for PollinatorsThere are 15 species of wildflower in this mix, although not every packet may have all 15, due to seed distribution.  The seeds are grown in the UK and are UK species only – all of them are amazing for insects!  Seed content is as follows (please click each species to find out more information about them):

Yarrow, Lesser Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Ladies Bedstraw, Rough Hawkbit, Ox-eye Daisy, Ribwort Plantain, Cowslip, Selfheal, Meadow Buttercup, Yellow Rattle, Sorrel, Salad Burnet, White Campion and Red Campion.

Various heights up to around 90 cm

All of the seeds are perennials so they will flower year after year – but may not necessarily flower the first year.

Sun!

A mix of shades of white, green, yellow, pink and purple

Very easy to sow!  In spring or autumn, find a bare patch of soil in a sunny spot and sprinkle on the seeds.  Gently push them into the soil – no need to cover with more soil.  Water as required.
