Our Help Nature wildflower seed packet is part of our new biodiversity range of seed packets. This range is a collection of seed packets that can be used for any occasion or event but have an important message about helping biodiversity. With this particular seed packet, you really will be helping Nature one seed at a time! Every seed planted has the potential to help a multitude of insects.
Each seed packet is made from quality recycled paper in white or manilla, 115 gsm. It measures 9 x 12 cm and has the seed content and sowing instructions on the back. If you are a business, we can add a logo for no extra charge, please just email it over after you have ordered.
The seeds are viable for a few years, just keep them somewhere cool and dry out of sunlight.
The seeds are inside the packet in a paper sachet – no plastic and foil in our packets! They are also solely British wildflower species, the seeds also having been grown in the UK. Wildflowers and insects have evolved together, being of mutual benefit to each other, which is why it is so important to grow native UK wildflower species to help native insects and pollinators. Some insects are totally dependent on only one species of wildflower, so when either is in decline, they both suffer – for example, the rare Duke of Burgundy butterfly is dependent on a good supply of its food plants Cowslip and Primrose; the Swallowtail butterfly only breeds amongst a good supply of Milk Parsley.
About the Seeds
There are 15 species of perennial wildflowers in this mix, although not every packet may have all 15, due to seed distribution. All of them are amazing for insects! Seed content is as follows (please click each species to find out more information about them):
Yarrow, Lesser Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Ladies Bedstraw, Rough Hawkbit, Ox-eye Daisy, Ribwort Plantain, Selfheal, Meadow Buttercup, Cowslip, Yellow Rattle, Sorrel, Salad Burnet, White Campion and Red Campion. There may also be some wild grasses in the mix too.
