Grow Wildflowers

Description

RHS Plants for PollinatorsWe love autumn when mushrooms and toadstools are plentiful!  If you have an autumn wedding (or if you just love mushrooms and toadstools!), then this is the seed packet wedding favour for you!  Decorated with mushrooms, a pumpkin and squash, this seed packet is personalised with your names and wedding date and a pretty little ladybird too!

The seed packet is made from quality recycled manilla paper and measures 9 x 12 cm.  The seeds are British wildflower seeds, grown in the UK, and they are inside the packet in a paper sachet, not a foil and plastic one.  Sowing instructions are printed on the back.

Seed Content

There are 15 species of wildflower in this mix, although not every packet may have all 15, due to seed distribution.  The seeds are grown in the UK and are UK species only – all of them are amazing for insects!  Seed content is as follows (please click each species to find out more information about them):

Yarrow, Lesser Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Ladies Bedstraw, Rough Hawkbit, Ox-eye Daisy, Ribwort Plantain, Cowslip, Selfheal, Meadow Buttercup, Yellow Rattle, Sorrel, Salad Burnet, White Campion and Red Campion.

Late spring to late summer

Various heights to about 90 cm

Perennial – these wildflwoers will flower every year, although not necessarily the first year.

Full sun.

Shades of green, white, yellow, purple and pink.

Find a bare patch of soil in a sunny spot and sprinkle on the seeds.  Gently push them into the soil and water, no need to cover with more soil as you are replicating what would have happened hundreds of years ago in meadows when cattle or sheep grazed and tranpled the seeds into the soil.  Water as required.  Once flowering is over, collect the seeds or let them scatter.  Cut down in late summer and clear away the cuttings.

Seed sowing instructions

We say to allow up to 14 days for delivery, plus delivery time,  particularly during spring and summer when we are at our busiest!  However, if you need your order urgently or sooner, please email or call – please do not add any instructions about delivery in your order form as we won’t see them until we get to your order and, by then, it might be too late!  You can read our full delivery info here.
