Ma and Julia having a cuddle!

Sheep Ahoy is one of the charities Wildflower Favours supports through seed packet wedding favour sales.  We also sponsor a sheep there called Samuel!  So a friend and I went off to the field they live in in Kent to meet the sheep (and Samuel, of course!) and Julia and Emma who run the charity.

Handsome Samuel!

It was a lovely sunny day and immediately we arrived the sheep came running over to welcome us!  They really are like loveable dogs!  The greet you, nuzzle for cuddles and even jump up at you!  All the sheep have been rescued to live out their natural lives in safety and love.  Many of them were bought as very poorly lambs at market, at death;’s door.  But the love and attention (and many vets’ bills!) of Julia and Emma helped the lambs pull through.  They all have great names – we met Obi, Samuel, Elvis and Ma (to name but a few!).

Ma is the eldest sheep at around 12 years old.  She came to Sheep Ahoy  less than a year ago having been constantly used for breeding.  She is absolutely beautiful and loves a cuddle.

After a lovely welcome from the sheep we fed them broccoli and carrots which they loved, tugging on the broccoli florets and even the odd ankle nibble!

We also fed the lambs their milk – here is Elvis.  he was very ill when bought at market for £1 but has been nursed back to health but still has a few breathing issues.
